I’ve been living at Scape Melbourne Central for a while now and I’m genuinely impressed. The location is super convenient—everything from public transport to great food is just around the corner.

The staff, especially Sajid and the reception team, are always friendly, responsive, and genuinely care about the residents. The building is clean, secure, and modern, with great common spaces to chill or study.

I really appreciate the community vibe here. It’s more than just accommodation—it feels like home. Highly recommended for any student looking for comfort, convenience, and peace of mind in Melbourne!

I visited this student accommodation in mid-July 2025, right in the middle of the Australian winter, and despite the chilly mornings and dark evenings, the energy inside this place was warm and vibrant.

Located just a short walk from the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, this isn’t just a place to sleep - it’s a full-fledged student lifestyle hub, purpose-built for undergrads, postgrads, and international students navigating life away from home.

Officially branded as student housing - though it feels more like a boutique urban campus - it offers almost every amenity a student could want under one roof. There’s a spacious communal kitchen on each floor, study lounges with fast Wi-Fi and power outlets galore, a 24-hour gym with cardio machines and free weights, a games room with table tennis and foosball, a rooftop terrace with city views, perfect for sunset coffee or late-night chats, and even a cinema room that hosts weekly movie nights. There’s also a dedicated quiet study zone, which is a godsend during exam periods, and laundry facilities that are modern, coin-free, and consistently well-maintained.

One of the biggest advantages? The tram station is literally steps from the front door. Tram routes 1, 3, 5, 6, and 16 stop right outside, connecting residents directly to the University of Melbourne, RMIT, Melbourne University of Technology, and other key academic and social hubs. For students juggling early lectures or late-night library sessions, this kind of access is a game-changer.

The demographics reflect Melbourne’s rich international student community. I met students from China, India, Indonesia, Scandinavia and several African and Middle Eastern countries. There’s a strong presence of postgraduate researchers and exchange students, but also a lively cohort of undergrads in their first or second year. The mix creates a dynamic, multicultural atmosphere - hallways buzz with snippets of Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic, and Tagalog, and weekend nights often feature impromptu cooking sessions where residents share dishes from back home.

The front desk staff are generally very helpful, acting as both concierges and informal support systems. They’re often the first point of contact for everything from lost keys to emotional check-ins, and most rise to the challenge with patience and kindness. A special shoutout to Marcus from Burma- a consistently friendly and proactive presence at reception. Calm under pressure, always smiling, and genuinely interested in how residents are doing, Marcus even remembered names and room numbers after just a few interactions. In an environment where small gestures matter, he stood out as a quiet pillar of the community.

Socially, the space encourages connection. Weekly events - like pancake breakfasts, cultural nights, board game sessions, and yoga on weekends - help break the ice and build camaraderie. The common areas are well-used, especially in the evenings, with students sprawled on couches studying, chatting, or just decompressing after a long day. The vibe is inclusive, low-pressure, and refreshingly unpretentious.

That said, it’s not a luxury hotel. Rooms are compact - designed for function over flair - and while clean and well-maintained, they’re best suited for those who value community and convenience over privacy or opulence. Shared bathrooms on some floors may not suit everyone, though en-suite options are available at a premium.

Overall, this is much more than just a place to crash. It’s a thoughtfully designed ecosystem for student life, blending practicality, connectivity, and community. Whether you’re a first-year undergrad from interstate or an international PhD candidate adjusting to life in Australia, this place makes the transition smoother, safer, and surprisingly social.

And with staff like Marcus helping hold it all together, it feels less like institutional housing and more like a home away from home.

Shoutout also to Mary from housekeeping. She greeted us with a smile.

We don’t have a curfew for residents over the age of 18.

International residents under the age of 18 must sign a curfew between 9:30pm to 10:00pm. If students miss curfew, our team will follow up with the student and visit their room until they are located to make sure everything is ok. The Next Generation team communicates all curfew breaches to the educational institution on the spot, or the following day, depending on the nature of the breach.
